Important things to teach our children
Hello everyone! This is Aida with a new episode of Learn Arabic with Ease at the pre-intermediate level. In this series, I will be speaking about different topics, suitable for this specific level, and obviously at a slower pace than normal to make it easier for you to understand the content.
Today’s episode is about important things we need to teach our children.
Teaching children lessons that will help them get through life is an important part of parenting, and it instils in them strong values and habits that will serve them in the future. So what are some of these lessons?
1.Treat others well
One of the most important lessons that can be taught to children is to instil in them the habit of treating other people with respect and kindness. This will help them develop healthy and lasting relations throughout their lives. Act with kindness and empathy, so that your children learn such values through observation, and encourage them to think about how their actions can affect others.
2.Good Manners
Children need to acquire good manners because doing so helps them develop social skills, gain respect and make friends. Encourage your children to be polite in all situations by teaching them to greet people, say please and thank you, hold the door open for others, and other polite actions.

3.Be Honest
One of the most valuable life skills that we can teach children is the importance of being truthful. To maintain healthy relationships with the people around us and encourage trust, we need to be honest. You should always encourage your children to tell the truth. It helps to not overreact when your children make mistakes, so that the communication channel between you and your children stays open. This does not encourage them to make mistakes. It simply helps them to understand that everyone messes up sometimes and you still love them regardless.
4.We can’t always get what we want
It can be hard for children to accept that they don’t always get what they want and that many things in life can’t be controlled. Children learn from us that it is normal to be disappointed when things don’t work out. However, it’s important to teach them that although they may not get what they want immediately, patience and hard work often lead to satisfaction at the end of the day. Encourage them to persevere and concentrate on the things that can be controlled.

5.Success Comes from Hard Work
There is a lot of misconception regarding success. Too much attention is attached to intelligence, talent or luck. It’s important to teach your children that the most important trait to succeed in anything lies in hard work. When we see a successful person, we cannot observe all the hard work that led to his or her success. When your children do spend hours working on something that yields a good result, remind them of the time and patience they spent to produce that result.
6.Life doesn’t always revolve around us
Being able to empathize with others and see things from their point of view requires children to learn that the world does not revolve around them. Help them to think about how their actions and decisions affect other people. Encourage them to ask questions and listen to others, by acting as a role model for such behaviour.
7.Healthy Food
To promote your child’s health and overall well-being, encourage them to try new foods and make nutritious food choices. Limit their consumption of sugary foods by regularly offering them a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and meats. Obviously, it’s fine for your children to have treats, as long as they do not use them as a substitute for a healthy diet. Teach them how much and when it is ok to eat snacks.
8.How to be responsible
It’s important to teach children to take responsibility for their actions. When they hurt others, encourage them to see and accept their mistakes , and teach them how they can correct the situation.
9.Time Management
Of course it is important for children to have time to explore their world and use their imagination; however, they also need to learn the value of time and how to manage it effectively, so that they are able to develop skills like productivity and organization. You can teach them how to prioritize their tasks and to use their time wisely, by giving them small tasks and a setting a period of time to get them done. To make it more fun, you can show them how to make lists and check them off.
Those were some of the important skills and manners that will help your children get through life while feeling more confident and being able to forge healthy relationships.
